Ominous Egg Locations and All 42 Pals That Hatch
Where to find Ominous Eggs in Palworld: all 30 World Tree nests, the 10% chance per nest, the 3-hour respawn, and every one of the 42 Pals that can hatch with exact odds.

The Ominous Egg is the only egg type you cannot farm anywhere on the main island — it comes out of World Tree nests and nothing else. This guide covers all 30 nest spots, the exact roll that turns a nest into an Ominous Egg, the respawn timer, and every one of the 42 Pals that can be curled up inside with their hatch odds.
Ominous Egg: Quick Facts
Ominous Eggs behave like every other Pal egg once they are in your bag — one slot each, no stacking, incubator only. What makes them different is the source and the pool. They are locked to the World Tree, they only appear on a 10% roll, and the Pals inside are a fixed 42-strong list that includes several Pals you will never pull from an ordinary nest.
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Item type | Material — Pal Egg |
| Weight | 10 (Standard), 25 (Large), 50 (Huge) |
| Stack size | 1 — every egg eats a full inventory slot |
| Gold value | 10 |
| Where it comes from | World Tree Pal Egg nests only |
| Nests on the map | 30 |
| Chance per nest | 10% |
| Nest respawn | 180 minutes (3 hours) |
| Pals in the pool | 42 |
| Odds per Pal | 2.31% (alpha version 0.07%) |
The 10% figure is the important one. Every World Tree nest first decides which Pal it is holding, then rolls whether the shell comes out as an Ominous Egg or as that Pal's normal element egg. Clear all 30 nests in one sweep and you should walk away with about three Ominous Eggs and twenty-seven ordinary ones.
Where to Find Ominous Eggs
There is exactly one place: the World Tree. No Grasslands, Desert, Snowfields, Mount Obsidian, Sakurajima, Sunreach Isle or Feybreak nest can produce one, and no merchant sells them. That makes the route short but the entry requirement steep — you need the World Tree unlocked before any of this matters.
All 30 World Tree Nests
The World Tree holds 30 Pal Egg nests, all of them the same grade and all of them pulling from the same pool. Because there is only one nest type up there, you do not have to sort good spots from bad ones — every nest is worth the same 10% roll. Open the World Tree egg nest map with the nest layer already switched on and run them in a loop; the tree is compact enough that a full circuit is far quicker than an equivalent run on the main island.
| Route detail | Number |
|---|---|
| Nests in the World Tree | 30 |
| Nest grade | Grade 1 (single tier, no variation) |
| Ominous Eggs per full sweep | ≈3 |
| Respawn after looting | 180 minutes |
| Sweeps per real-time day | Up to 8 |
| Other egg nests that can drop one | 0 |
The three-hour respawn is per nest and starts when you pick the egg up, so the practical loop is: clear all 30, go do something else for three hours, come back. Two sweeps a session is realistic; chasing individual nests as they tick over is not worth the flying time.
Getting Into the World Tree
You cannot reach the nests until you have opened the World Tree itself, which means clearing the gate fight first. The full fight breakdown is in the Panthalus boss guide. Bring cold-weather gear and a flying mount before you commit to a nest route — the tree is vertical, and half the nests sit on ledges you cannot walk to.
All 42 Pals That Hatch From Ominous Eggs
Every Pal in the pool sits at the same weight, so an Ominous Egg is a flat 2.31% roll across 42 possibilities with no favourites. That flatness cuts both ways: there is no way to bias the roll toward the Pal you want, but the top-rarity Pals are exactly as likely as the filler. On average it takes 43 Ominous Eggs before any one specific Pal shows up, which is roughly fourteen full nest sweeps.

Dark is the widest element in the pool at 11 Pals, followed by Ice at 7 and Fire at 10. Rarity runs from 2 up to 10, and the two Rarity 10 entries — Lyleen Noct and Knocklem Ignis — are the headline pulls, since an Ominous Egg is the only egg in the game that can produce either of them.
Best Pals in the Ominous Egg Pool
With a flat roll you take what you get, but these are the eight that make the route worth running. The picks below are weighted toward Pals that change what your base can do or that are painful to obtain any other way — a Rarity 10 variant you cannot breed cheaply is worth far more of your time than a strong statline you could have caught in the field.
| Pal | Rarity | Why it's worth the roll |
|---|---|---|
Knocklem Ignis | 10 | Rarity 10 with 135 base Defense and Mining 7 plus Transporting 7 — the single best combination of tank and base labour in the pool. |
Lyleen Noct | 10 | The other Rarity 10 pull, and the only Pal here with Medicine Production 7. Ominous Eggs are the only eggs that can produce it. |
Shaolong | 9 | Highest HP in the pool at 140 base with 135 Shot Attack, and Watering 8 covers an entire farm plot on its own. |
Orserk | 9 | Generating Electricity 8 — the top power rating available from this pool, which is what unhooks your base from coal. |
Aegidron | 8 | 140 base Defense and Mining 8, the highest mining rating of the 42, on an XL frame that survives the deep tree. |
Selyne | 9 | 130 base HP with Handiwork 7 and Medicine Production 6 — a rare Pal that is genuinely good at both fighting and crafting. |
Bastigor | 8 | 140 base HP tied for the highest here, and Cooling 8 keeps a refrigerated base running by itself. |
Faleris | 9 | Kindling 6 on a Rarity 9 flyer, and its Aqua variant Faleris Aqua is in the same pool for Watering duty. |
If you are running the tree specifically to fill a base rather than to complete the Paldex, Aegidron and Orserk are the two that pay for the trip fastest — Mining 8 and Generating Electricity 8 are the highest ratings the pool offers in their categories. Everything else is a bonus on top of the sweep.
Ominous Egg Sizes and What They Mean
Ominous Eggs come in the same three shell sizes as every other egg type, and the size is a rarity tell before you ever put it in an incubator. A Huge Ominous Egg means one of the top-rarity Pals is inside, so if you are carrying a limited number of slots back from the tree, drop the Standard shells first. Weight is the real constraint — a Huge egg is five times a Standard one and nothing stacks.
| Egg | Size | Weight | Stack | What's inside |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 10 | 1 | The common end of the pool | |
Large Ominous Egg | Large | 25 | 1 | Mid-rarity World Tree Pals |
Huge Ominous Egg | Huge | 50 | 1 | The rarest Pals the pool can produce |
Ten Huge Ominous Eggs are 500 weight on their own, which is most of an unbuffed carry limit before you have picked up anything else. Bring a hauling partner or plan the sweep as two trips — the full weight comparison across every egg type is in the egg hatch list.
How to Hatch an Ominous Egg
Nothing special is required. Drop it in any incubator and wait — the basic Egg Incubator unlocks at Technology level 10 and hatches an Ominous Egg exactly as well as the endgame machines do. What the upgrades buy you is throughput, which is the thing that actually matters when you come home from the tree with three eggs and twenty-seven ordinary ones.
| Incubator | Tech Level | Why upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | One egg at a time, no power draw — fine for your first Ominous Egg | |
| 48 | Multiple eggs at once with no generator, the real breakpoint for nest routes | |
| 76 | Folds breeding and hatching together and improves rare skill carry-over |
The Ancient Hatchery at level 76 is the endgame answer if you are hatching in bulk, but at 1,200 power draw it is a base-defining build. For a 30-nest World Tree loop, the Large Incubator at level 48 is enough.
Alpha Pals From Ominous Eggs
Every one of the 42 Pals also has an alpha entry in the pool at 0.07% each, which adds up to a 2.91% chance that any given World Tree hatch comes out as the oversized boss version. That is on the low side compared to other nest pools, but it is the only way to get an alpha of a World Tree Pal without hunting one down in the field. If you want a specific alpha rather than a random one, the alpha Pal hunting route is far faster than praying at an incubator.
Breeding Around the Pool
Nest running is random, and 43 eggs for one specific Pal is a long afternoon. If you already own one of the 42, breeding is the targeted route to the rest — several of the pool's headline entries have their own combos, and Knocklem Ignis alone has 49 parent pairs that produce it. Start with how breeding works for combi ranks and inheritance, then check the exclusive breeding combos list for the pairs that only ever produce one specific child.
Summary
Ominous Eggs come from the 30 World Tree nests and nowhere else, at a 10% chance per nest with a three-hour respawn — about three eggs per full sweep. The pool is 42 Pals deep and completely flat at 2.31% each, with a 2.91% alpha roll on top, and it is the only source in the game for Lyleen Noct and Knocklem Ignis from an egg. Clear the tree, come back in three hours, repeat.
