Gliding is half of how you traverse Palpagos, and the ladder runs from a bundle of wood and cloth to a jet-propelled Wing Pack that flies outright. There's also a piece of it the in-game tech screen makes easy to miss — the top conventional glider's actual unlock — and a set of four Pals that quietly change what your equipped glider can do.
The Glider Ladder
Four conventional gliders, each a clean upgrade in hang time and control. The one that trips people up is the Hyper Glider: it unlocks in the glider technology line at Tech 52 with a real crafting recipe, sitting between Giga at 40 and the Wing Pack's endgame slot:

The Wing Pack: When Gliding Becomes Flying
At Tech 80 the ladder stops being a ladder: the Wing Pack is a portable glider that enables true flight, burning Wing Cells as fuel to propel you through the air. The build cost is pure endgame — 6 Paloxite Ingots worth of World Tree metallurgy, 20 AI Cores, and 20 Thermal Cores — but it's the single biggest traversal upgrade in the game, freeing your party slots from carrying a flying mount at all.
The Four Glider Pals
These Pals don't ride or fight from the party — their partner skills modify whatever glider you have equipped, and each one changes the flying style completely:
