Palworld 1.0 Update: All New Content and Where to Start
Everything in the Palworld 1.0 update — the World Tree region with its 690 loot caches and 52 Pals, the sky region's eight named places, all 10 tower bosses and 9 hard-mode rematches, the 5 raid bosses, 31 main missions, and the order to play it in.

Palworld left early access on July 10, 2026, and almost nothing about the 1.0 build was shown before it went live — which is why a lot of players updated, loaded their save and had no idea what had just been added. This guide is the full inventory: the two new regions, the bosses sitting at the top of them, the systems that changed underneath your base, and the order to work through it all in.
Everything in the 1.0 Build
The headline of 1.0 is that the map stopped being one island. There is a second full region — the World Tree — hanging above Palpagos with its own fast travel network, its own Pal roster and its own tower bosses, and the story chain now runs all the way into it. Everything below is what the finished game holds, with the fastest route into each piece. If you only have one evening, the World Tree row is the one to click.

Why 1.0 Arrived With Nothing Spoiled
There is a reason you probably did not see a single preview before launch day. Pocketpair's head of publishing and communications, John Buckley, has since explained that the studio deliberately skipped the usual pre-release press-key rollout that other launches run, and that critic reception was not something the team was aiming at while finishing the build. The goal was to keep the ending of the game — the World Tree, Panthalus and what waits past it — hidden until players found it themselves, and Buckley framed the whole update as something built for the people playing it rather than for the industry around it.
For you that means one practical thing: nothing about 1.0 was signposted in advance, so the parts people miss are the ones the game never advertises. The Echoing Flute questline is optional right up until it isn't, the sky region has one dungeon entrance on the entire map, and the World Tree's best material is gated behind a boss most players walk past. The rest of this guide is the list of those doors.
The World Tree Is the Real Addition
The World Tree is a second region rather than a dungeon, and it is the densest area in the game by a wide margin. Its 690 loot caches are more than any single Palpagos region carries, and five Alphas roam it between level 75 and 79 — Celesdir Noct and Aegidron at 79, Mycora and Moldron Cryst at 78, and Dualith at 75. The reason to keep coming back after the story is the material: Paloxite and Mythical Wood only exist here, and Paloxite Ingot is a component in 44 different recipes, including all three Ancient Armor lines, the Ancient Sphere, the Wing Pack and the Beam Launcher.
| What's up there | Count | Open it on the map |
|---|---|---|
| Loot Caches | 690 | World Tree loot caches |
| Fishing Spots | 55 standard + 22 rare | World Tree fishing spots |
| 47 | World Tree Pal Effigies | |
| Treasure Chests | 38 | World Tree treasure chests |
| Pal Egg Nests | 30 | World Tree egg nests |
| Fast Travel Points | 15 | World Tree fast travel points |
| Skill Fruit Trees | 12 | World Tree skill fruit trees |
| Journals | 9 | World Tree journals |
| Tower Boss Arenas | 3 | World Tree tower bosses |
Two rows are worth planning around. The 690 caches make this the single best sweep in the game for bulk endgame materials, and the 47 effigies here sit on top of the 360 scattered across Palpagos — if you have been stuck partway up the capture-power ladder, this region alone can finish it. The 12 skill fruit trees are also the densest patch in the game; every skill fruit tree location covers which fruit each one grows.
The Sky Region and Sunreach Skies
The sky region is the other new area, and it is easy to miss because it has exactly one dungeon entrance on the whole map. Its eight named places are The Azure Tapestry, Waterlily Gorge, Dragonmark Peak, Farcry Marsh, Azure Woodland, Crystalline Archipelago, the Enchanted Firmament and the Sealed Realm of the Astral Vow. Sunreach Skies itself is the endgame dungeon up there at level 65-69, and it runs the smallest boss pool in the game — a short list of Skyland natives like Eidrolon and Valentail rather than the wide random rosters the Palpagos caverns use, which makes it the most reliable place to farm a specific endgame Pal.
| Sunreach Isle content | Count | Open it on the map |
|---|---|---|
| Loot Caches | 574 | Sunreach Isle loot caches |
| Treasure Chests | 76 | Sunreach Isle treasure chests |
| Dungeon Entrance | 1 — the only way in | The Sunreach Isle entrance |
The chests are the draw here rather than the caches. Sunreach chests are where Soralite and Ancient Spheres show up in quantity, and Soralite feeds straight back into the Paloxite Ingot recipe — so the two new regions loop into each other. Clear the sky chests before you commit to a long World Tree crafting session and you will not have to fly back.
Every Tower Boss and Its Rematch
Ten tower bosses sit in the 1.0 build, and nine of them have a hard-mode rematch attached. The multipliers are what actually decide how hard each one is — the health number tells you how long the fight runs, and the "damage that lands" column tells you how much of your DPS the boss keeps. Grizzbolt is the one to watch: it has the lowest first-fight health on the board and the worst rematch numbers of the whole set, keeping only 10% of your damage while hitting back at ×13.
| Tower boss | Element | First fight HP | Rematch HP | Rematch damage | Your damage that lands |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Astralym | None | ×40 | ×405 | ×5 | 45% |
Bastigor | Ice | ×62 | ×75 | ×10 | 18% |
Selyne | Dark / Neutral | ×54 | ×93 | ×9 | 20% |
Shaolong | Dragon / Water | ×50 | ×88 | ×12 | 20% |
Panthalus | Water | ×42 | No rematch | — | — |
Shadowbeak | Dark | ×28 | ×100 | ×12 | 25% |
Faleris | Fire | ×27 | ×110 | ×8 | 15% |
Orserk | Dragon / Electric | ×25 | ×110 | ×10 | 15% |
Lyleen | Grass | ×25 | ×100 | ×10 | 12% |
Grizzbolt | Electric | ×12 | ×100 | ×13 | 10% |
Zenara and Astralym sit outside the ladder
The fight at the top of the World Tree does not behave like the other nine. Astralym has no element at all, so nothing on the element matchup chart gives you a bonus against it, and its ×405 rematch health is nearly four times the next-largest multiplier in the game. It compensates by being gentle in the other direction — ×5 damage dealt is the softest of the hard set, and 45% of your damage lands where the rest keep you to 10-25%. It is an endurance test, not a puzzle, so bring ammo and sustain rather than a counter-element team. The Zenara and Astralym fight guide has the full attack kit.
Hard mode unlocks after all eight normal towers
The rematch ladder does not open until you have cleared all eight Palpagos towers on normal, and then the level jumps to 80 across the board. The three longest fights are worth knowing before you queue into one — all three sit above half a million health, and Victor & Shadowbeak is the gate you have to clear before the other two even appear on the board. Each first clear pays out a boss hat and feeds the legendary schematic pool.
| Hard-mode fight | Level | HP | Unlock | Full guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Victor & Shadowbeak | 80 | 570,000 | Clear it on Normal first | Victor and Shadowbeak guide |
Saya & Selyne | 80 | 567,300 | Defeat Auri and Shaolong | Saya and Selyne guide |
Axel & Orserk | 80 | 514,800 | Defeat Auri and Shaolong | Axel and Orserk guide |
Five Raid Bosses and Their Ultra Versions
Raids are the other half of the endgame and they run off summoning altars — 16 of them are marked on the map, so you never have to build one. Four of the five have an Ultra tier on top of the base fight, and the Ultra numbers are a different game entirely: Blazamut Ryu carries the largest Ultra health multiplier at ×500, while Xenolord and Hartalis hit hardest at ×13. If you are picking a first Ultra, take Hartalis — 20% of your damage lands there, more than double what the other three allow.
| Raid boss | Element | Summon level | HP | Damage | Ultra HP | Ultra damage | Ultra damage you land |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Xenolord | Dark / Dragon | 65 | ×280 | ×5 | ×420 | ×13 | 9% |
Hartalis | Neutral | 70 | ×180 | ×4 | ×320 | ×13 | 20% |
Blazamut Ryu | Dragon / Fire | 55 | ×140 | ×2 | ×500 | ×8 | 9% |
Bellanoir Libero | Dark | 45 | ×120 | ×2 | ×420 | ×10 | 9% |
Bellanoir | Dark | — | ×120 | ×1.5 | No Ultra | — | — |
The Systems 1.0 Changed
Beyond the two regions, 1.0 reshaped a handful of systems you will touch every session. The mission board is the biggest one — the story is now a numbered chain rather than a loose set of objectives, and it pays real levels at the end. Subspecies are the other quiet change worth chasing: 84 alternate forms, many carrying a different element from their base Pal, which is how you get a Dark-typed version of something that has no business being Dark.
| System | What it does now | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Missions | 31 main + 45 sub missions worth just under 1.63 million EXP in total | List of All Missions and Rewards |
| Subspecies Pals | 84 alternate forms with their own elements and breeding pairs | All 84 Subspecies Pals |
| Global Palbox | Saves a Pal's genetic data at level 3 and rebuilds it in another save | How to Use the Global Palbox |
| Pal min-maxing | IVs, passives, Souls and condensing all stack on the same Pal | How to Min-Max Pals |
| Salvaging | Rank 2 wrecks are the source for legendary schematics and Giant Pal Souls | Palworld Salvaging Guide |
The Global Palbox row is the one people underrate. It is unlocked at level 3 for 3 Paldium Fragments, 5 Wood and 15 Stone, which means you can set it up in your first hour and start banking Pals long before you know which ones matter — and when you eventually start a fresh world or join a friend's server, your bred stock comes with you.
Where to Start After You Update
The route depends entirely on where your save stopped. If you were mid-story, just keep following the mission chain — it now runs into the World Tree on its own. If you had already finished the old endgame and put the game down, the fastest path back in is the Panthalus questline, because it unlocks the region everything else in 1.0 hangs off.
| Where you left off | Do this first | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Fresh save | Follow the main mission chain | It walks you from the beach to the World Tree without detours — the day one checklist covers the first few hours |
| Mid-game, level 30-50 | Clear the remaining Palpagos towers | All eight normal clears are the gate on the hard-mode ladder |
| Level 55+, story done | Collect the four Echobones and craft the Echoing Flute | This is the only door into the World Tree |
| World Tree cleared | Start the hard-mode rematches and Ultra raids | 9 rematches and 4 Ultra fights are what's left — the endgame checklist has the full board |
| Just want the loot | Sweep the 690 World Tree caches | Densest material sweep in the game, and it funds every Paloxite Ingot recipe |
The Short Answer
Palworld 1.0 added a second region above the map, a story chain that ends inside it, three more tower bosses, a hard-mode ladder for nine of the ten, and a pile of systems changes underneath — and almost none of it was shown before launch, on purpose. If you are updating an old save: build the Echoing Flute, beat Panthalus, and everything else opens from there.
