How to Get Elphidran Aqua
Elphidran Aqua is Dragon / Water, so an Ice or Electric attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Elphidran Aqua spawn between level 33 and 80. A level 80 one resists far more than a level 33; catch cheap first, then farm the high spawns for condensing.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it middle of the road: take the health bar down first and aim for its back.
The 55 spawn points are not scattered — they form two pockets and nothing in between. 34 of them line Sakurajima's western edge, 24 of those closer to the Sakurajima: West Coast waypoint than to anything else and another 7 sitting nearer Moonflower Tower Entrance. The remaining 21 are far off to the northeast, 17 of them ringing Frostbound Mountains Summit. Fly out from whichever of those two waypoints you have unlocked and search that pocket; hunting the ground between them finds nothing. The day and night tables list the same 55 coordinates, so there is no time of day to wait for either.
Breeding is the cheaper door, and it is cheap because both parents are: Surfent turns up at 301 spawn points from level 12, and Elphidran at 261 plus a fixed level 30 alpha. You can have that pair in a Breeding Farm at a point in the run where a wild Elphidran Aqua would still be shrugging off your spheres, and the farm gives you a repeatable supply for condensing rather than one catch off a 55-point table.

Amicable Water Dragon is the only partner skill in the game that reduces Fire damage. Eight other Pals carry the identical 15 / 17 / 20 / 24 / 30% ladder — Kitsun for Ice, Kitsun Noct for Dark, Snock Lux for Water, Bulldosu for Electric, Wumpo Botan for Earth, Petallia Ignis for Leaf, Pierdon Cryst for Dragon, Sootseer for Normal — and Fire is the one element no other Pal covers. That makes Elphidran Aqua the answer to a volcano run or a Fire boss the same way those eight answer their own elements.
The burn half of the skill does not scale: it reads 100% at partner level 1 and 100% at level 5. Burn simply stops landing on the first copy you catch, so condensing duplicates into it buys only the damage cut, 15% up to 30% across four condense steps. If you want it purely as burn insurance for the fights that cover you in it, one uncondensed Elphidran Aqua with its saddle is the entire investment.
