It stacks up to 9,999. At 10,000 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Precious Plume

38 Pals drop Precious Plume when defeated or captured, which is usually the faster route if you are already out hunting — the drop list below is sorted by how reliably each one gives it up.

If you would rather just buy it, the cheapest seller is Desert Shop at 10,000 Gold, and 3 other shops stock it too.

There is a no-combat tap most players never notice: the Desert Town Ambassador, one of the visiting NPCs that turns up at your base from around level 20, carries 5-10 Precious Plume in its present pool, sitting next to Diamond and High Quality Cloth. A single visit can beat a mid-tier alpha run for zero risk, so it is worth keeping the base attractive to visitors if gold is what you are short of.

Using Precious Plume Well

Nothing crafts with it. It appears in no recipe, no tech-tree unlock and no structure cost anywhere in the game files, which puts it in the same bracket as Precious Claw and Precious Pelt — a pure vendor commodity that exists to be turned into gold. There is no reason to hold a stack past your next merchant visit, and no build later in the game that will suddenly want it back. Note too that the shop rows above are what a merchant charges to sell you one, not what one buys back for, so shuttling plumes between vendors is never an arbitrage.

Read the drop table as a list of alpha fights, not a list of species. Every one of the 38 entries is a boss-flagged kill, so the ordinary wild version of the same Pal gives nothing — grinding regular Chikipi or Galeclaw in the overworld will never produce a plume, and neither will catching them. Because the rate is a flat 100% across the whole list, difficulty buys you quantity and nothing else: Faleris and Shadowbeak pay 6-8, the mid alphas (Vanwyrm Cryst, Suzaku, Elizabee) pay 5-7, and the bottom of the ladder — Chikipi, Tocotoco, Celaray, Cawgnito — pays 1-2. That makes the routing question gold per minute rather than plumes per kill: a low-level alpha you delete in one clip on a short flight path can out-earn a Shadowbeak that costs you a full loadout and five minutes of dodging.
