Its hard tail survives being cut off without deteriorating. Severed ones were taken for good luck charms, which brought nothing of the sort to the countless Mau poached over them.

How to Get Mau

Mau is Dark, so a Dragon attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.

Wild Mau spawn between level 5 and 15. That top end fights the sphere much harder, so start low and leave the tougher ones until you need duplicates.

Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it exactly average, so weaken it properly and throw from behind for the back-strike bonus.

Mau Tier List Rankings

Wild Mau Level Range

Wild Mau roam at level 5–15 out in the world — plan your spheres and party level around that before hunting one on the interactive map.

Mau at a Ranch

Assign Mau to a Ranch and it produces Gold Coin on its own, no work order needed — the Ranch job sits at rank 1 for this one. That is the hands-off way to keep a supply coming in rather than hunting for it.

Dungeons Mau Appears In

Mau does not spawn in the open world at all — a cavern run is the only way to meet one, which makes these the 3 dungeons worth learning.

the boss chamber fight is level 10–13, and ordinary cavern spawns run level 5–15.

Best Mau Build

Mau shines as a base worker. The passives listed here sharpen that role — catch for them, breed for them, or implant them.

Partner skill: Gold Digger.
