How to Get Sootseer
Sootseer is Dark / Fire, so a Dragon or Water attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Sootseer spawn between level 45 and 67. A level 67 one resists far more than a level 45; catch cheap first, then farm the high spawns for condensing.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it exactly average, so weaken it properly and throw from behind for the back-strike bonus.

Wild Sootseer roam at level 45–67 out in the world — plan your spheres and party level around that before hunting one on the interactive map.
Where to Find Sootseer
Sootseer spawn locations in the wild — every marked spot is a known spawn area.
Most of them are around Silent Lake (10.3% of known spots), with smaller pockets near Moonflower Tower Entrance and Secluded Cemetery.
Sootseer at a Ranch
Assign Sootseer to a Ranch and it produces Bone on its own, no work order needed — the Ranch job sits at rank 2 for this one. That is the hands-off way to keep a supply coming in rather than hunting for it.
BoneSootseer in Base Raids
Sootseer shows up in 2 raid groups that attack your base, at level 29–31 around the Sakurajima. Worth knowing before you settle there — build your defences around what actually turns up.
Dungeons Sootseer Appears In
Besides its wild habitat, Sootseer turns up inside one cavern, and takes the boss chamber in one of them. Caverns are the reliable option when the overworld roll is not going your way.
