How to Get Melpaca
Melpaca is Neutral, so a Dark attacker takes it down fastest — and a Pal it resists will drag the fight long enough for it to heal or flee.
Wild Melpaca spawn between level 5 and 17. A level 17 one resists far more than a level 5; catch cheap first, then farm the high spawns for condensing.
Its capture rate is 1.0, which makes it exactly average, so weaken it properly and throw from behind for the back-strike bonus.

Wild Melpaca roam at level 5–17 out in the world — plan your spheres and party level around that before hunting one on the interactive map.
Where to Find Melpaca
Melpaca spawn locations in the wild — every marked spot is a known spawn area.
Most of them are around Eastern Wild Island (17.8% of known spots), with smaller pockets near Sea Breeze Archipelago Church and Sea Breeze Archipelago - Castaway Beach. They come in groups of up to 2, so plan sphere stock for more than one.
Melpaca at a Ranch
Assign Melpaca to a Ranch and it produces Wool on its own, no work order needed — the Ranch job sits at rank 2 for this one. That is the hands-off way to keep a supply coming in rather than hunting for it.

Besides its wild habitat, Melpaca turns up inside 2 caverns, and takes the boss chamber in 2 of them. Caverns are the reliable option when the overworld roll is not going your way.
