Old Revolver
Weapon · WeaponHandgun4★A somewhat dated revolving handgun whose single shots land harder than the default Handgun's.
Old Revolver is the strongest handgun in the game by attack, at 1,500.
No recipe takes it as an ingredient. Whatever you build is the finished article, so there is no reason to hoard spares.
Details
It does not stack, so every spare copy costs an inventory slot. At 51,360 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.
Old Revolver Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 162 materials across 3 types, and the bottleneck is almost always the 120× requirement — line that up first and the rest follows.
Where to Find Old Revolver
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is crates on the large oil rig at 1.5% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
Two routes carry Old Revolver Schematic 4 at better than one percent, and the one with the smaller headline number is the better bet. Gold crates on the large oil rig give it up at 1.471% and stock no lesser tier. A tier 2 treasure map dig pays 1.026% — but that same dig also carries Schematic 2 at 6.41% and Schematic 3 at 2.564%, and those rungs thin out only two and a half times each while the drafting table fuses five copies into one of the tier above. Count the fusing and one dig is worth 1.80 Legendary copies per hundred against the rig's 1.47, 0.80 for Desert chests, 0.72 for Desert fishing and 0.61 for Mount Obsidian chests. Dig, and hoard the low tiers rather than leaving them behind.
The maps it wants are the cheap ones, which is why this grind opens far earlier than most Legendary weapons. The Old Revolver sits in the tier 2 dig pool rather than the tier 3 pool, and tier 2 maps come out of the low-grade camps: a Grasslands sea base boss stash surrenders one eight times out of ten, land camp boss stashes run 37.5% in the Desert, 35% in Mount Obsidian, 30% in the Snowfields, 15% in the Forest and 10% in the Grasslands, and grade 5 chests add 11.25% in Sakurajima, 7.5% in the Snowfields and 5% each in the Desert and Mount Obsidian. The dig pool also holds no Schematic 1 whatsoever, so every dig drops you in one rung above the bottom of the ladder.
Using Old Revolver Well
You do not need the Legendary copy to own the handgun class. 1500 attack is the highest of any handgun in the game, but so is every rarity of this one: the 1★ build already lands 1050, and the strongest handgun that is not an Old Revolver is the Legendary Makeshift Handgun at 800, with the Legendary Handgun and Marksman Revolver both stuck on 625. That makes the 2★ build the value pick — 1200 attack for 90 Ingot and 30 High Quality Pal Oil and not a single Ancient Civilization Part, where the 3★ asks for one and this Legendary asks for two. Stepping from 2★ up to here buys 25% more damage for four times the bench time.
The bench is not a gate on this one. Every rarity is assembled at the plain Weapon Assembly Line, which the Technology tree opens at level 32 for 3 points — 13 other Legendary weapons are stuck behind Weapon Assembly Line II at 47, and 14 more behind the Advanced line at 63 or the Ancient Workbench at 67. The tree's own Old Revolver entry costs another 3 points at level 33, so a schematic in your bag turns that research into a choice rather than a prerequisite. In your bag is the operative part: a copy left in a base chest never puts the recipe on the crafting menu.
Know where it stops being a primary. Six rounds and 1600 durability against the Legendary Handgun's 16-round magazine and 2400 means the revolver wins every individual trigger pull and loses the long fight — across a full load it is 9,000 damage to the Handgun's 10,000, before you count reloads. Its 1500 a shot is genuinely rifle-grade, close to the Legendary Semi-Auto Rifle's 1,610 and the Legendary Laser Rifle's 1,875 a bullet, but those feed from 12 and 30 round magazines. Carry it as the sidearm you swap to for a burst into something large, not the gun you clear a camp with.
Every Tier of Old Revolver
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: attack runs 600 to 1500, a 2.5x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Attack | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Old Revolver | 600 | 400 |
| 1★ | Old Revolver | 1050 | 600 |
| 2★ | Old Revolver | 1200 | 800 |
| 3★ | Old Revolver | 1350 | 1200 |
| 4★ | Old Revolver (this one) | 1500 | 1600 |
Ammunition Old Revolver Uses
Old Revolver fires Handgun Ammo, and nothing else — running dry mid-fight is the usual way this weapon lets you down, so keep the recipe unlocked before you rely on it.
| Ammo | Yield | Craft cost |
|---|---|---|
| ×20 | Ingot ×1, Gunpowder ×1 |
Schematics That Unlock Old Revolver
The Technology tree hands you the plain Old Revolver at level 33 for 3 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
Fastest route. The fastest route is treasure map digs (tier 2), and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Old Revolver schematic works out at roughly 56 containers against the 68 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 4★ | Crates on the large oil rig, Treasure map digs (tier 2), Desert chests +7 more — best 1.5% (grade 3/4/5/6) · Supply drops in the Forest (0.04%) |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Nothing in the handgun class beats it on attack. The next one down is Old Revolver at 1,350, so if you are still using that, this is the upgrade worth the materials.
