Plasteel Helmet
Armor · ArmorHead4★A Plasteel headpiece that raises defense while cutting weight, sitting at the edge of what the technology can do.
Plasteel Helmet is 9th of 202 head pieces by defense, at 390 against the 650 of Ancient Helm.
It feeds no other recipe, which makes it a terminal item: craft what you will actually carry and stop there.
Details
At 12 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 203,160 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Where to Find Plasteel Helmet
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is sea base enemy camp loot in the Sakurajima at 1.4% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
The camps built out on the water off Sakurajima keep a loot table of their own, separate from the ones on land, and it is the richest source of this schematic in the world. The stash the camp boss guards rolls a slot holding nothing but schematics — fourteen entries, every one a blueprint — and the Epic Plasteel Helmet schematic takes 13.47% of those rolls with the Legendary itself at 0.63%. Five Epics fuse into one Legendary, so counted together that single slot is worth about 3.3% of a finished Legendary per clear. Run the same sum over an oil rig crate with every tier included and it comes to 0.11%: thirty camp clears against something near nine hundred crate openings for the same piece of paper.
The other route worth building a supply line for is the tier 4 treasure map, and the sea base off the desert is the cleanest way to keep them coming — its boss stash carries a map slot with exactly two entries in it, tier 3 at 60% and tier 4 at 40%, so whenever that slot pays out, two rolls in five are the grade that can produce this schematic. The dig those maps mark is generous next to any chest: 1.03% for the Legendary, 2.56% for the Epic, 6.41% for the Rare, and no Uncommon anywhere in the pool, so nothing you pull out of the ground is a rung you have to throw away.
Everywhere this line turns up as ordinary world loot — oil rig crates, Sakurajima chests, the hauls you fish out off Sakurajima and Feybreak — the four tiers sit at fixed steps of five: weight 5 on the Uncommon, 1 on the Rare, 0.2 on the Epic, 0.04 on the Legendary. Since five copies of any tier fuse into one of the next, every tier is worth exactly the same in Legendary terms, and the stack of low-grade copies is not the consolation prize it looks like. Strip a container of all four grades and it pays four times what it pays someone who only stops for the top roll.
Using Plasteel Helmet Well
Hexolite Helmet arrives at level 60 and does not retire this one on sight: its plain craft stops at 350 defence and its Uncommon at 385, both short of the 390 here, so a Legendary Plasteel stays the better helmet until a Rare Hexolite schematic shows up at 402. It is also the lightest of the late helmets — 12 weight against 15 for both Hexolite and Ancient Helm. That is the window a farm has to fit inside, and it decides the route: thirty sea base clears is a fair price for nine levels of wear, nine hundred rig crates is not, so if the rig is your only access the sensible move is to bank the Epics and put the hours into Hexolite instead.
Every Tier of Plasteel Helmet
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: defense runs 260 to 390, a 1.5x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Defense | HP | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Plasteel Helmet | 260 | 600 | 18000 |
| 1★ | Plasteel Helmet | 312 | 720 | 27000 |
| 2★ | Plasteel Helmet | 338 | 780 | 36000 |
| 3★ | Plasteel Helmet | 364 | 840 | 54000 |
| 4★ | Plasteel Helmet (this one) | 390 | 900 | 72000 |
Schematics That Unlock Plasteel Helmet
The Technology tree hands you the plain Plasteel Helmet at level 51 for 4 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
Fastest route. The fastest route is sea base enemy camp boss stashes in the Sakurajima, and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Plasteel Helmet schematic works out at roughly 30 containers against the 71 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 4★ | Sakurajima sea base camp loot, Treasure map digs (tier 4), Sakurajima sea base camp stashes +6 more — best 1.4% (grade 5/6) |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Step up from here and you get Hexolite Helmet at 402 defense; step down and it is Hexolite Helmet at 385. The size of that step is what decides whether the crafting bill is justified yet.
