Guided Missile Launcher

Weapon · WeaponRocketLauncher4

Its missiles lock on and chase enemies down on their own, then burst on contact for damage across a wide radius.

Guided Missile Launcher is 18th of 39 rocket launchers by attack, at 8,850 against the 16,800 of Beam Launcher.

No recipe takes it as an ingredient. Whatever you build is the finished article, so there is no reason to hoard spares.

At 30 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 930,480 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Guided Missile Launcher Crafting Recipe

Work: 19200000

Crafting it takes 367 materials across 5 types.

Where to Find Guided Missile Launcher

The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is crates on the large oil rig at 1.5% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.

Using Guided Missile Launcher Well

Spending the technology point does not get you this version. The tree entry sits at level 56 and costs 5 Technology points, and everything it opens is the Common launcher — 5,900 attack, 300 durability. The Legendary build only appears at the bench while [[item:Blueprint_GuidedMissileLauncher_5]] is sitting in your inventory, and that schematic has no tech cost and no shop stall: you either find it or you fuse it. Fusing runs five copies of the tier below into one of the tier above at every rung, and the bottom rung [[item:Blueprint_GuidedMissileLauncher_2]] cannot be crafted at all, so grinding rather than looting the Legendary schematic means 125 of the Uncommon ones.

Budget the bench time before you queue it. Each rarity step roughly doubles the crafting work, so this Legendary is thirty-two times the labour of the Common launcher and twice the Epic — the same Weapon Assembly Line II job, but one that will eat a Handiwork crew for a long stretch rather than an afternoon. Load the line with your highest Handiwork Pals and let it run overnight instead of babysitting it. [[item:MissileBullet]] is a separate purchase from the same tree, also level 56 but only 1 Technology point, and skipping it leaves you holding a finished weapon that cannot fire.

Against the [[item:MultiGuidedMissileLauncher_5]] the choice is burst, not power. Both hit for the same 8,850 and carry the same 1,200 durability at this rarity — the Multi's only advantage is holding four missiles instead of one, and it charges half again as much Pal Metal Ingot, sixty percent more Plasteel and 16 Computer for the privilege, on top of a build queue two-thirds longer. Per missile fired the two are identical, so the single tube is the cheaper way to reach top-end rocket damage and the honest pick unless a boss window is short enough that stopping to reload after every shot is what actually costs you the kill.

Every Tier of Guided Missile Launcher

The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: attack runs 5900 to 8850, a 1.5x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.

Ammunition Guided Missile Launcher Uses

Guided Missile Launcher fires Missile Ammo, and nothing else — running dry mid-fight is the usual way this weapon lets you down, so keep the recipe unlocked before you rely on it.

Schematics That Unlock Guided Missile Launcher

The Technology tree hands you the plain Guided Missile Launcher at level 56 for 5 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.

Fastest route. The fastest route is treasure map digs (tier 4), and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Guided Missile Launcher schematic works out at roughly 56 containers against the 68 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.

Alternatives and Upgrades

Step up from here and you get Rocket Launcher at 10,000 attack; step down and it is Multi Guided Missile Launcher at 8,850. Weigh the jump against what the next tier costs you before committing the resources.
