Grenade Launcher
Weapon · WeaponRocketLauncher4★Lobs grenades that detonate across a wide area, which makes it the answer to a crowd of enemies.
Grenade Launcher is an early rocket launcher: 33rd of 39 by attack, so treat it as a stepping stone, at 4,500 against the 16,800 of Beam Launcher.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
At 30 weight each it eats carry capacity fast, so bring a mount or park a chest nearby. At 624,120 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.
Grenade Launcher Crafting Recipe
Crafting it takes 305 materials across 4 types.
Where to Find Grenade Launcher
The recipe is not on the Technology tree — it is locked behind a schematic you have to find first. The best single source is crates on the large oil rig at 1.5% per container, and the table below lists every tier and where each one drops.
Using Grenade Launcher Well
Owning the schematic is not enough on its own — it has to be riding in your inventory when you walk up to the bench, because a copy left in a base chest never puts the recipe on the menu. The bench itself has to be a Weapon Assembly Line II or better: that one comes in at level 47 and costs 100 Refined Ingot, 10 Circuit Board, 5 Corrosive Solvent and 5 Bio Battery, and it wants 400 power and a Handiwork Pal. The Advanced Weapon Assembly Line at level 63 and the Ancient Workbench at level 67 will also take the job, though the Ancient Workbench is Pal-operated only — you cannot stand at it and craft yourself.
Ancient Civilization Parts are the wall, not the ingots. The tech-tree Grenade Launcher needs none at all, and every rarity above it does: 2, 3, 4, then 5 for the Legendary alongside 150 Pal Metal Ingot, 120 Plasteel and 30 Carbon Fiber. If you are choosing which schematic to spend a bench run on, the Ancient parts are what you are really spending — the metal is farmable, the parts come off bosses.
The craft is the slowest part of owning one. Work on the Legendary build is 12,800,000 against 400,000 for the plain tech-tree Grenade Launcher — the figure doubles at every rarity step, so this single weapon is thirty-two times the labour of the base version. Nothing about your materials changes that; only the tier of the assembly line and the Handiwork ranks of the Pals you park on it do. Stand up the Advanced Weapon Assembly Line before you start rather than halfway through.
What the Legendary actually buys you is uptime, not burst. Attack climbs from 3,000 to 4,500 across the ladder — half again — while durability goes 600, 900, 1,200, 1,800, 2,400, a full four times the base. The magazine never moves off 5 at any rarity, so the firing rhythm is identical no matter which one you carry; the Legendary just survives four times as much shooting before it needs replacing.
Chasing a particular schematic tier is wasted effort, because the Feybreak supply drops price them as an exact ladder: Schematic 1 at 23.74%, Schematic 2 at 4.75%, Schematic 3 at 0.95% and Schematic 4 at 0.19% — each rung is five times rarer than the one under it, and five of any tier fuse into one of the next. That makes 125 copies of Schematic 1 and one lucky Schematic 4 the same number of crates on average, so open everything, keep everything, and fuse upward. The one route that skips the ladder is the large oil rig: its crates carry the Schematic 4 without stocking the three tiers beneath it.
Every Tier of Grenade Launcher
The same piece exists at 5 rarities, and the gap is not cosmetic: attack runs 3000 to 4500, a 1.5x swing. Which one you end up with is decided by the rarity of the schematic you built from, not by the recipe — so a legendary copy of this is worth more than the next item up built from a common one.
| Rarity | Item | Attack | Durability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0★ | Grenade Launcher | 3000 | 600 |
| 1★ | Grenade Launcher | 3450 | 900 |
| 2★ | Grenade Launcher | 3750 | 1200 |
| 3★ | Grenade Launcher | 4050 | 1800 |
| 4★ | Grenade Launcher (this one) | 4500 | 2400 |
Ammunition Grenade Launcher Uses
Grenade Launcher fires Grenade Ammo, and nothing else — running dry mid-fight is the usual way this weapon lets you down, so keep the recipe unlocked before you rely on it.
| Ammo | Yield | Craft cost |
|---|---|---|
| ×10 | Pal Metal Ingot ×2, Fiber ×20, Gunpowder ×3 |
Schematics That Unlock Grenade Launcher
The Technology tree hands you the plain Grenade Launcher at level 53 for 5 Technology points, but nothing above that base version — the rarer builds are schematic-only. One schematic grants the recipe, and they are world loot — chests, boss Pals and the late-game pools — rather than anything you research. Higher-rarity copies of the same schematic raise the quality of what you end up crafting.
Fastest route. The fastest route is treasure map digs (tier 4), and the reason is the ladder rather than the top rung: that pool stocks every tier, so the common copies it hands you fuse upward into the one you want. Counting them, a top-tier Grenade Launcher schematic works out at roughly 56 containers against the 68 the 4★ drop rate alone suggests. Spare low tiers are progress, not clutter. Schematics fuse five-to-one, so a lower tier with better odds can beat the top tier outright. Counts are containers of that source, not time.
| Schematic | Rarity | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 4★ | Crates on the large oil rig, Treasure map digs (tier 4), Crates on the oil rigs +1 more — best 1.5% (grade 5) · Supply drops in the Feybreak (0.19%) |
Alternatives and Upgrades
Step up from here and you get Multi Guided Missile Launcher at 5,900 attack; step down and it is Grenade Launcher at 4,050. How far apart those two sit tells you whether to spend now or keep what you have.
