Ultra Shield
Armor · Shield3★Ultra Shield is 4th of 8 shields by shield strength, at 1,520 against the 2,200 of Ancient Shield.
This is where the crafting chain ends — nothing downstream consumes it, so a stockpile earns you nothing.
Details
It does not stack, so every spare copy costs an inventory slot. At 298,560 gold it is worth real money to a merchant.

Crafting it takes 270 materials across 5 types.
Where to Find Ultra Shield
Ultra Shield is not something you find lying around — you craft it, and the recipe is below.
Using Ultra Shield Well
This is the rung where the shield line stops being a smelting problem. The Hyper Shield below it wants nothing rarer than Ingot; the Ultra adds 30 Ancient Civilization Core on top of the 30 Ancient Civilization Parts the line has always used. Cores are not gathered — the dependable route is expeditions, where the hour-long Hard runs pay out every time: World Tree Subterrenean City Ruins returns 3–5 and Sunreach Isle 3–4, so 30 is roughly seven to ten completed runs. Oil rig crates are the other steady pool, and Silvance and Dandilord each drop one on a guaranteed roll.
This is a Technology tree unlock, not a schematic — it opens at level 55 and costs 4 technology points, and the bench it lists is the Production Assembly Line II. That matters for how long you keep it: the Advanced Shield is only five levels further on at 60, for 5 points. Spending 4 points here buys 1,520 shield for roughly five levels of play before a strictly better rung is in reach, so if you arrive at 55 already close to 60, the points are usually better parked until then.
The other half of the bill is production, not looting: the 50 Plasteel and 10 Bio Battery both come off base lines you have to already be running — an oil pump feeding a production line for the Plasteel, an Electric Organ supply for the batteries. If either line is cold, standing one up takes longer than gathering everything else on the list combined.
Read the work total before you queue it: at 600,000 it is four times the work of the Hyper Shield, though still under a third of what the Advanced Shield demands. Stack the bench with your highest Handiwork Pals and leave it running, because on a weak crew it is the work figure, not the materials, that decides how long you wait.
Alternatives and Upgrades
Ultra Shield matches it exactly at 1,520 shield strength — those two differ in what they resist and what they weigh, not in raw shield strength, so picking between them is a swap rather than an upgrade. The next real step is Advanced Shield at 1,800; below it is Hyper Shield at 1,045.
